Does my satphone sim card expire ?

You will need to keep an airtime credit on your sim card, as allowing it to run out completely can cause your sim card to be suspended withmost satphone providers.

For Inmarsat the sim time lasts for two years, purchasing more extends this, if you have no credit, the sim will be deactivated and become invalid.

For Iridium, you need to keep the time under control, for instance, a 75 minute topup lasts for one month, after this time, and with no credit, the card becomes invalid, it can however be reactivated at a very high cost.  You can keep iridium time extended by purchasing a revalidation voucher on a monthly basis.

Do I pay for incoming calls with my satphone ?

No, as a satphone user you do not pay for incoming calls, regardless where they originate from, this is very unlike a normal cellular phone, and one of the reasons that many global users and travellers are using the isatphone as an alternative to a normal cellular phone, there are no roaming charges whatsoever, same applies to
incoming SMS messages, which are free from most manufacturers websites.

This makes satphones ideal for travelling, where in most cases the cost of a call to a global landline or mobile, is often substantially less that a normal cellular call when roaming.
